Organizers say it’s a crucial year for the Boys and Girls Club of Faulkner County’s annual fundraiser, slated for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Centennial Events Center in Conway.
Anne Mann, event cochair with Kristie Ross, is optimistic that the group will secure $50,000 to put toward operations at a new club facility under construction at South German Lane.
The Boys and Girls Club broke ground on the new location of the Bob Nabholz facility in May.
Mann said foundation work has begun, and the building will serve some of the organization’s 300 child members by January.
"This year’s event is even more important than it has been for us because of the new building," Mann said. "With the help of our biggest fundraiser, we’ll have funds for operating expenses at the new location."
Mann said the Boys and Girls Club is at about $1.8 million of a $2 million capital campaign goal.
The 18th annual Auction Extravaganza is paired with the 14th Annual John Hawks Classic Golf Tournament, which will occur Friday at the Greens at Nutters Chapel.
Thursday’s event carries a theme, and attendees are asked to wear white. Mann and other organizers expect more than 300 guests at the auction.
Tickets are still available and may be purchased at the door on the night of the event, or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Mann said 100 items, including jewelry, a "Cavapoo" puppy, Razorback memorabilia, cabin packages, gift certificates and other items donated by local businesses will be auctioned Thursday.
