In a departure from a usual groundbreaking, officers of the new Summit Bank branch now under construction on Salem Road presented a $25,000 check for construction of the new Faulkner County Boys and Girls Club facility.

Among the bank executives present was Ross Whipple, who founded the bank in Arkadelphia in 2000.

"We are excited to be part of this community," Whipple said.

"This branch, the 23rd in the company, is the second of many more to come in Faulkner County."

Derrek Thomason, president of the Conway region of Summit, said giving to the Boys and Girls Club’s new facility "shows our support to the community and this very worthwhile endeavor."

The current location is at 201 Skyline Drive, Suite 3B, and the new location is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

Summit Bank is a $1.1 billion asset financial institution serving Central and South Arkansas. Based in Arkadelphia, Summit Bank has 21 locations in Arkadelphia, Benton, Bryant, Conway, Hope, Hot Springs, Hot Springs Village, Little Rock, Magnolia and Malvern.
