Independent Living Services of Conway will host the seventh annual Golf Ball Drop fundraiser Thursday, Sept. 6 at Centennial Valley Country Club.

Money raised through Golf Ball Drop events has been used to fund the group’s transportation fleet for consumers.

Independent Living Services, a private nonprofit that serves people with developmental disabilities in central Arkansas, provides transportation to and from its adult day services, medical appointments, social events and work for more than 250.

"Without this transportation, our consumers wouldn’t have a way to travel to and from the events that make up an independent live," said Lisa Garner, assistant development director.

ILS has been selling tickets that correspond to golf balls that are to be dropped from a hot air balloon on the day of the event.

The holder of the ticket matching the ball nearest to a hole on the golf course will win $2,012.

Tickets are still available for purchase through, or at the ILS office at 615 East Robins, or by mail at P.O. Box 1070, Conway, AR 72033.

The event begins at 5:30 p.m. at Centennial’s driving range.

Festivities include food provided by Centennial Bank, an inflatable bounce house and face painting for kids, shaved ice, and a silent auction featuring items from the University of Central Arkansas basketball and football teams.
