The annual BSP Council-sponsored Preferential Tea was held this week at the McGee Center with all five Conway chapters participating. The chapter chairing the event this year was Laureate Alpha Omega. The tables were decorated with fall leaves and sunflowers, and Snoopy greeted everyone at the door.

Chapter president Vernelle Crews welcomed the group and led the Opening Ritual. Pam Rawls introduced prospective members Linda Alverson and Betty Boudreaux and then led the Beta Sigma Phi grace. The host chapter provided a buffet table of croissants with chicken salad, ham and cheese tea sandwiches, spinach dip, fruit and vegetable trays, sweet breads with whipped cream and a variety of teas and coffee.

In keeping with this year’s International theme, "You’re Among Friends," Mary Williams introduced our speaker, Shona Osborne, manager of the Conway Animal Welfare Unit, who gave an informative PowerPoint presentation on the local shelter and the services and assistance provided by the Friends of the Conway Animal Shelter organization in helping to find homes for our furry friends.

Friends’ president Chris Quinn and board members Teressa Houston, Vickie Crutchfield and Adam Olson were introduced as special guests. This year in lieu of door prizes each sorority chapter as well as individuals brought dog and cat food or other items to be donated to the Friends of the Conway Animal Shelter.

The Tea concluded with members repeating the BSP Closing Ritual and joining hands for the Mizpah.
