Joe Gibbons of Conway yesterday killed a five-point buck on a deer hunt near Alam Fork in Saline County. Mr. Gibbons was a member of a hunting party of eight Conway and Vilonia men. The deer weighed about 120 pounds.

The Conway African Violet Club held its Christmas party Tuesday at the home of Mrs. John Henze with Miss Floy Hess serving as co-hostess. Mrs. Alf Herron presided. The program was given by Mrs. Eugene Burton on "Old and New Varieties," Specimen blooms and foliage were displayed by Mrs. Herron and O.M. Langford. New plants were shown and discussed. Gifts were exchanged from a decorated Christmas tree. Coffee, cake and Christmas candies were served from a beautifully decorated table.

Kari L. Mize of Vilonia and Bradley A. Burke of El Paso were nominated by Arkansas State University-Beebe to be listed in the 1988 edition of Who’s Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges.
The students were selected by a faculty committee on the basis of their academic achievement , service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities and potential for continued success.
The publication lists student leaders from over 1,400 institutions of higher learning throughout the United States.
