J.R. Benton celebrated his eleventh birthday anniversary by having a party Friday evening at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S.C. Benton, on Scott Street. Games and contests were played and prizes were awarded to Quincy Surratt and Virginia Shaw. A decorated birthday cake was cut and served with fruit salad and chocolate. Guests were Pat Henry, Murphy Ford, James McBrien, Billy Lewis, Quincy and Bobby Surratt, Virginia Shaw, Mary Virginia Robins, Mozell Mitchell, Mary Jane Holt and Patsy Ann Camp. Miss Pansy Benton, assisted by Miss Charline Sims, cared for the young folks.

A two-day meeting of the Arkansas State Committees on Cooperatives opened today in Hot Springs.

Attending from Conway include J.O. Hill, county agent, Dennis Wilcox, Farm Bureau Insurance agent, and Jimmy Ligon, Fred McNew, Hurlis Graham, J.W. Brown Jr., and A.T. Fielder of the Central Arkansas Production Credit Association.

After being swept in three games earlier in the week at McRae, Enola teams rebounded last night with three victories over Wilburn at Enola.

Enola’s senior boys placed four players in double figures in a 91-41 victory. Danny Simpson led the Tigers with 17 points. Eric Dunn added 14, Billy Bradke 12 and Kevin Beene 10.

Barbara Miller scored 30 points and Bonnie Miller added 15 as Enola won the senior girls game 72-43.

In the junior boys game, Andy Shock and Terry Gantz each scored 14 points to lead Enola to a 45-20 victory.
