St. Joseph takes
two from Hector
HECTOR — St. Joseph basketball teams won two games here Tuesday night.
The Bulldogs (24-2, 4-0) defeated Hector, 52-24.
Andrew Beck led St. Joseph with 18 points and seven rebounds. Drake Cooper added 13 points and six rebounds. Cole Schichtl had eight points and 10 rebounds. Andrew Kordsmeier added six points and had six assists. Landon Enderlin had five points. Nash Nichols and Taylor Schrekenhofer had three steals each.
The Lady Bulldogs (13-13, 6-3) won 41-28. Anna Mayor had 10 points and Meagan Briggler had nine points and 14 assists. Madeline Moix had six points. Taylor Welch added dive. Morgan Kordsmeier had four rebounds. Rachel Briggler had five assists.
In junior boys, Hector won, 50-30.
Gage Berger had 12 points for the Bulldogs (14-6, 2-3). Noah Bray had seven points and David Beck, four.
UCA men 13th
at Arizona golf tourney
TUCSON, Ariz. — The University of Central Arkansas men’s golf team opened their spring season with a 13th-place finish at the Arizona Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday.
The Bears shot 298-301-308 for a final total of 907 at the Vistoso Golf Club.
Freshman James Newton led the way for UCA, shooting 77-70-76-223 to finish tied for 45th. Sophomore Pep Angles shot 73-74-79-226 and tied for 67th, while senior Austen Moix tied for 62nd (72-78-77-227).
Junior Richard Farmer tied for 73rd (76-79-76-231), while sophomore David Morago withdrew in the third round.
New Mexico won the event at 844, followed by TCU (846), California (847), Arizona State (862), Liberty (867), Kennesaw State (871), CSU Fullerton (872), Pepperdine (884), New Mexico State (886), Texas El Paso (894), UC Riverside (900), UCA (907), Utah (910) and Santa Clara (913).
