BELTON, Texas — Mary Hardin-Baylor handed the Hendrix baseball team its first loss of the season Friday night, 2-1, in 10 innings.

Junior hurler Jacob Perschke struck out the third most batters in school history, fanning 13, and allowed seven hits and one run in nine innings of no-decision work for the Warriors (2-1).

The Warriors had a chance in the top of the 10th when Collin Radack reached on a fielder’s choice and Brady Newville singled him over to second with one out. Matt Simmons’ ground ball forced Newville out at second, setting up runners at the corners with two outs. UMHB pitcher Ian Ekery caught Simmons off of first and, after a rundown, Radack was tagged out trying to score the go-ahead run, ending the inning.
