LITTLE ROCK (AP) — Scattered electric outages are creeping across Arkansas as the effects of the winter storm start to intensify.

About 5,000 Arkansas customers were out at about 1 p.m., with the greatest concentration in Independence County, where about 2,500 Entergy Arkansas customers are without lights.

North Arkansas Electric Cooperative has 1,750 outages, with more than 700 each out in Baxter and Sharp counties.

The Carroll Electric Cooperative reports about 400 outages and First Electric Cooperative has about 200 outages scattered over six counties.

Entergy also has about 600 outages each in Pope and Stone counties.

So far, the Little Rock area has gotten off light and Entergy is reporting no outages in Pulaski County.
