Guy residents and officials were present for the dedication of the new Guy Volunteer Fire Department Sub-Station, located at 17 Old Texas Rd.
The dedication was held on Saturday, March 9.
The public was given the opportunity to inspect the new sub-station and meet some of the firemen and members of the board of directors.
The new sub-station is 6,000 square feet, has a large bay with four large overhead doors. It also has a large training/meeting room with a kitchenette.
Cost of the new building was approximately $155,000. The Guy Volunteer Fire Department received a $20,000 grant toward the new building. Much of the work was donated by local members, according to a press release from the Guy Volunteer Fire Department.
Free hotdogs and hamburgers were furnished and served by First Arkansas Bank and Trust.
The Guy Volunteer firemen and Board of Directors are very proud of their new building. Approximately 130 people were on hand to take part in the dedication, according to Ruth Michael, secretary-treasurer of the fire department board of directors.
