Misses Valjean Bush, Marietta Wofford, Charlotte Lois Benedict and Margaret Evelyn Carpenter were hostesses to the Order of Rainbow for Girls for their meeting at the Masonic hall Thursday evening. One new member, Miss Katherine Richie, was initiated. At the social hour dainty refreshments were served by the hostesses. Mrs. Vervain Hinkle was a special guest.

Gary Keathley of Mount Vernon won first place Friday in the Central Federation Future Farmers of America public speaking contest at Conway High School.

The Vilonia chapter of FFA won first place in the parliamentary procedure competition at the event.

Danny Ramsey of Vilonia placed second in the public speaking contest.

Mount Vernon won second place in the parliamentary procedure contest followed by Fox, Conway, Greenbrier, Guy-Perkins, Shirley and Enola.

Winners of the public speaking and parliamentary procedure contests will represent the federation in the district leadership contest at Arkansas Tech in Russellville March 28.

Radio station KKYK disc jockey Craig O’Neill entertained residents of the Coway Human Development Center during a St. Patrick’s Day dance yesterdays at the center. O’Neill played several hours of music and awarded door prizes provided by the center’s special events committee during the annual event.

Coy Delmer Wofford of Conway received an award for 60 years of volunteer work for the American Legion, Theodore Campbell Post 16. Presenting him the award are June Coffman of Greenbrier, post commander, Hughie Craig of Conway, Faulkner County commander, and Bernard Zellner of Greenbrier.

wWofford’s hard work has paid off in the appreciation of his friends in the organization. "He used to be the hub that all the spokes came out of," Zellner said.
