The spring Irish potato market was opened at Conway Friday by Lee Mode, with the purchase of 1,000 sacks from the Wilcox brothers of north of Conway. The price was $1 per 100 pounds, equivalent to 64 cents a bushel, for No. 1 U.S. standard potatoes.

Mode transports the potatoes he purchases to St. Louis by his truck lines.

Hal Robbins, principal at Conway High School, today announced the honor graduates in the 1963 senior class. The students represent the top 10 percent of the class based on their four-year record. They are Margo Dunaway, Diane Ott, Connie Smith, Mary Jane Eaton, Carolyn Carr, Susan Major, Julian Ethridge, Charles Howard, Gail Robbins, George Reddin and Scott Grigsby.

Conway patrolman Bob Barham chuckled as he read a letter from a Conway elementary student yesterday in the Conway Police Department squad room. Public Information and Training Officer Kerry Pool arranged for Conway School District elementary students to express their appreciation to the officers for their observance of National Police Officers Week, May 15-21. Pool estimated that each policeman received about 15 personalized letters.

The Parent-Teacher Organization at Eastside Elementary in Greenbrier treated teachers to several activities during Teacher Appreciation Week recently. In addition to bistro lunches, car washes and a spa day, PTO members provided a Mexican feast for teachers. Dressed up in Mexican finery were Dona Dixon, Sue McKay, Angela Almond, Jan Mallett, Love Hines, Danielle Merritt and Beverly Woody.
