On Saturday, June 1, American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day will bring together outdoor enthusiasts across the country for its annual celebration of America’s great trail system and its numerous supporters and volunteers. Events will take place around the country including trail maintenance, hiking, biking, trail celebrations and more.

Petit Jean State Park, which has over 20 miles of interconnecting trails, will be celebrating with guided hikes and other trail related programming on June 1. Plans for this event include an evening concert with a prize drawing. Tickets to the drawing will be given away at each of the programs throughout the day.

Since 1993, National Trails Day has been inspiring individuals and community groups to take part in activities that promote healthy living and mental well being, protect green space, educate people on the importance of trails, and instill excitement for the outdoors.

A complete program schedule for the Petit Jean State Park event will be available on the park’s Web Site, www.PetitJeanstatePark.com. All of the park event’s programs and activities are free and open to the public. For additional information, contact the park at petitjean@arkansas.com or 501-727-5441.
