Mrs. Earl Davis gave a surprise party Tuesday afternoon at her home on Railroad avenue, in honor of the 75th birthday anniversary of her mother, Mrs. Mary Nixon, who makes her home with her. After the guests assembled a decorated cake with 75 lighted pink tapers was presented to Mrs. Nixon, who also received many other gifts. Sandwiches, cake and punch were served.

Harold Alexander of Conway, chief biologist for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, has been named to serve as a member of the Citizens Committee for the National Outdoor Recreation Resources Review Commission, it was announced today.

The commission was established by Congress to review the future outdoor recreation needs of America to the year 2000.

Steve Presley was recently elected 1988-89 president of the Vilonia chapter of Mu Alpha Theta. Other officers are Jeff Sturdivant, vice president; Mary Watson, secretary; Kellie Morris, treasurer; Tonya Haltom, student council representative; and Brian Garrison, reporter. Sandra Hudson is club sponsor.

Officials for the city and local businesses were on hand to officially open the Kohl’s department store in Conway Commons on Friday. The store is the first to open in the shopping center, with several other currently under construction. The store features clothing and home furnishings.
