Mayflower coach Jed Davis was not happy Friday night after the Eagles’ 56-19 loss at Barton, their first in 3-2A play.

The Eagles (5-2, 3-1) host another unbeaten team, Harding Academy, this week.

Cameron Anderson rushed for 288 yards and three touchdowns for Barton (7-0, 4-0).

Mayflower quarterback Adam Dycus passed for 427 yards and three touchdowns but was intercepted four times.

What frustrated Davis the most was Mayflower was assessed 21 penalties in the first half alone, mostly for holding. The Eagles trailed, 29-12 at halftime.

"I have never blamed refs for a game, but I considered using second-teamers in the second half or loading up the bus and going home," Davis said, " ... On a neutral field, this would have been a great game."

Justin Bailey rushed for 62 yards on 13 carries for the Eagles, which entered the game with one of the most prolific offenses in the state. Ryan Koonce rushed for 34 yards. Bailey also caught five passes for 95 yards and a touchdown.

Drew Duncan had eight catches for 93 yards and Josh Woodham nine for 83 yards. Madison Chambliss had four catches for 64 yars and a touchdown. Garret Taylor had three catches for 78 yards and a touchdown.
