Complimenting Mr. and Mrs. M.J. Russell, who have recently returned to Conway to make their home, Dr. and Mrs. J.H. Reynolds entertained in their honor at dinner last night at their home on Hendrix campus. The place cards were made by Mrs. Ruth H. Burr. The guest list included friends of former days. Covers were placed for Mr. and Mrs. Russell, Mrs. Enoch Russell, Dr. and Mrs. C.J. Greene, Mr. and Mrs. Guy A. Simmons, Dr. and Mrs. T.S. Staples, Dr. and Mrs. T.S. Staples, Dr. and Mrs. M.J. McHenry, Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Hulon, Mrs. J.W. House, Mrs. W.O. Wilson, Mrs. Burr and Dr. and Mrs. Reynolds.

Mrs. Mattie Fulmer was 101 yesterday. Most of her nine children helped her celebrate the event. Mrs. Fulmer, who is bedfast, has been blind several years. She lives with her daughter, Mrs. Annie Dunn. Other children are Andrew, Virgil, Oren, Harry and Jess J. Fulmer, all of Conway, Joe Fulmer of Holland, Mrs. Tava Dunn of Conway and Mrs. Cora Ashcraft of Benton.

Eric M. Johnson, a son of Bill and Carolyn Johnson of Greenbrier, recently enlisted in the Air Force delayed enlistment program. A 1987 graduate of Quitman High School, he is scheduled to attend basic training at Lackland Air Force Base at San Antonio, Texas, in December.

Marguerite Vann Elementary School kicked off the year with a construction-themed program called "Building Better Learners.
The evening included a presentation on what the school is doing in literacy and math through the federal Title I program and a chili supper.
