Mr. and Mrs. S.E. Newton are quietly celebrating their golden wedding anniversary at their home in Marvell today. Mr. and Mrs. Newton recently moved there from Conway to be near their daughter. Several friends from Conway and members of the First Presbyterian church sent messages of congratulations to them on the happy occasion.

It was a classic snatch-and-grab session this morning at Bailey’s dress sale held in the old Fair Store office building on Parkway Street. Scores of women crowded into the small place when the sale opened at 9 a.m. Mrs. eve Bailey, owner, said the sale would continue a month.

(1988)

Conway Veterinarian Dr. Aron Tellent, 1988 president of the Faulkner County 4-H Foundation, recognized the outstanding 4-H members during last night’s achievement banquet at the University of Central Arkansas. Students were honored for their accomplishments during the past year, including awards achieved on district and state levels. Foundation board member Sen. Stanley Russ distributed awards to scholarship recipients. Outstanding 4-H awards were given to Daniel Hightower, Twilight 4-H; Allen Brewer, Country Cadron 4-H; Regina Stewart, Vilonia, 4-H; and Charles Parsons, Holland 4-H.

Toby Stanley of Conway recently met with NCAA Gold Medalist Josh Landis of the University of Oklahoma and Olympic Gold Medalist Bart Connor at a two-day gymnastics training camp under their direction in preparation of the upcoming competition season. Stanley is the current AR level 5 State Champion.
