The University of Central Arkansas volleyball team took a hard-fought, 25-20, 25-22, 20-25, 25-20 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Chrisi Saturday afternoon at the Prince Center.

The Sugar Bears improved to 11-0 in Southland Conference play.

Scout Brooks was one of three Sugar Bears to record double-digit kills, turning in a team-high 13 in addition to six digs and three blocks. She was joined in double figures by Heather Schnars, who had 12 kills, 13 digs, and two aces, and Fulani Petties, who tallied 11 kills, two blocks, and her first ace in a Central Arkansas uniform. Marissa Collins added 49 assists, digging up 11 balls, and recording two blocks. Alicia Dittrich had six blocks and Shelbee Berringer 19 digs.

HENDRIX VOLLEYBALL

The Hendrix College volleyball team lost to Centre College 25-18, 25-22, 23-25, 25-21 at Grove Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.

The loss puts the Warriors at 15-11 overall and 6-7 in Southern Athletic Association play. With one match left, Hendrix is in a three-way tie for fourth place and the fourth seed at the SAA Tournament in two weeks. HC is tied with Millsaps and Rhodes, and a half game behind Birmingham-Southern for the third seed. The Warriors currently hold the tiebreaker over BSC and Rhodes, but is one set behind Millsaps.

Centre improves to 19-4 overall and 11-2 in SAA play and will be the second seed at the SAA Tournament, hosted by first-place Berry.

UCA SOCCER

Evansville scored in the 26th minute Saturday afternoon for a 1-0 men’s soccer victory over the University of Central Arkansas at the Bill Stephens Complex.

Wes Carson led the Central Arkansas offense, as he was on target with both of his shot attempts. Patxi Shortsleeve made five saves and allowed a goal in 52 minutes in net for the Bears.

HENDRIX FIELD HOCKEY

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Hendrix College field hockey team lost to Rhodes College, 9-0, in Southern Athletic Association play at Mason Field on Saturday afternoon.

The Warriors (0-12, 0-7) were outshot by the Lynx (8-7, 5-2) 37-6 overall and 17-4 on goal.
