UCA soccer players get academic honors

The University of Central Arkansas’ Adriana Lucar and Emma Reed both earned first-team honors on the Southland Conference’s all-academic women’s soccer teams.

Lucar, a forward from Lima, Peru, earned her second consecutive selection to the All-SLC first team this season, following a campaign in which she ranked in the top 10 in the conference in goals (nine), points (22), points per game (1.10), goals per game (0.45), shots (49), and shots per game (2.45). She carried a 3.4 GPA while earning a degree in accounting. She was named to the Southland Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll in 2012.

Reed, a defender from Keller, Texas, was named to the team for the second straight year.

Reed, who earned a degree in finance while holding a 3.9 GPA, was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team for District Six, which includes schools from Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, North and South Dakota, and Wisconsin. She is a two-time member of the SLC’s Commissioner’s Honor Roll. This season, she started all 21 of the Bears’ games, ranking second on the team in minutes played while helping the Central Arkansas defense hold opponents to 1.57 goals per game and a .125 shooting percentage.
