The Greenbrier Volunteer Fire Department is sponsoring the annual Health and Fitness Fair on Jan. 11. This is a free event that will provide health screenings, seminars, demonstrations, exercise classes, samples and information to anyone who wants to attend.

The Greenbrier Volunteer Fire Department is the oldest volunteer department in Faulkner County and will be celebrating 60 years of service on Oct. 1, 2014.

For the first time, they participated in the Christmas "Fill the Boot" campaign, with firemen standing at three locations in Greenbrier for three weekends that began on Black Friday. They raised almost $5,000 for needy children in Faulkner County.

Chief Cody Fulmer said, "That is an outstanding accomplishment for our first year in this campaign."

Every penny of the money went to purchase gifts for the children. The team of 25 volunteer firefighters were pleased to be able to give so much on their first year.

If you want your blood pressure or blood-sugar checked or would just like to mingle and talk with health professionals, then go early to the City Event Center from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
