FINAL, OFFICIAL RESULTS RELEASED

Early voting in the runoff election for the Republican nomination for Faulkner County Sheriff between Tim Ryals and Rocky Lawrence starts Tuesday.

Residents can vote early from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays Tuesday through March 21 at the Faulkner County Courthouse in downtown Conway.

Polls will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Election Day, March 22, at the Don Owen Sports Complex, McGee Center, Greenbrier City Events Center, Mayflower City Hall and Vilonia First Baptist Church. Voting will not be conducted at the courthouse or library on Election Day.

Residents who voted in the Democratic primary are not eligible to vote in the runoff election. Doing so is called crossover voting, which is a Class A misdemeanor. All other registered voters in the county, including those who didn’t previously vote in the primary election, are eligible to vote in the runoff election.

According to final, official totals, Ryals received a little more than 49 percent of the votes with 8,782 while Lawrence received 4,604 votes, which amounted to nearly 26 percent in the March 1 primary.

The winner of the runoff will face Democrat Wefus K. Tyus Jr. in the Nov. 8 general election.

Of the 70,896 registered voters in Faulkner County, nearly 37 percent — 25,942 — voted in the primary election.
