UPDATED Tuesday 3:45 p.m.:

The city's water has not been affected by the leak.

A gas leak is currently blocking off Oak Street between Chestnut and Court streets in downtown Conway.

Fire Chief Mike Winter said a construction company was working on Van Ronkle Street and hit an underground gas line.

The gas is leaking into a city drainage system and businesses in the area were evacuated.

Winter doesn’t anticipate the gas leak to get any worse, but said the area may be blocked off until 7 or 8 p.m. Monday.
