Construction will close a section of Sturgis Road for about a month, Conway city officials said in a news release.

Sturgis Road will be closed between Side Bottom Road and Scenic Hill/Round Mountain Road from Monday until the "later part of April," according to the release.

"This closure is required to complete the tie in of the Baker Willis Parkway (Segment 1 of the Western Loop project) to existing Sturgis Road," officials said.

The road will be closed to thru traffic but a section will be open for residents who live in the area.

The section funded by the city, between Union Pacific Railroad and the connection to the existing Sturgis Road, should be complete by June.

The section funded and managed by the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD), the connection to U.S. 265 and the Union Pacific Railroad Overpass, is expected to be completed by late fall. Officials said the road will be reopened to thru traffic "as soon as construction allows," with traffic being routed through a partially done section of Barker Wills Parkway. "The finished connection to U.S. Highway 365 and I-40 will require completion of the AHTD project underway involving completing the paving work for the South interchange," officials said.
