Mayor Tab Townsell proclaimed April 7 as Arkansas Gives Day in honor of the 12-hour fundraising event for nonprofit organizations.

From 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. April 7, residents can donate to the nonprofit of their choice at

The Arkansas Community Foundation partnered with the Arkansas Nonprofit Alliance to host the event that Townsell called "a celebration of philanthropy and volunteerism where people give whatever they are able to give."

"[I] urge all citizens citizens across the city of Conway to join together online on Arkansas Gives Day and give back to our community in a way that is personal," Townsell said.

The University of Central Arkansas also joined forces with the Arkansas Community Foundation for the event and will host a watch party from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 7 at UCA Downtown.

Thirty-nine Arkansas nonprofits will be on hand at the watch party, Conway Planning Department Deputy Director Wes Craiglow said.

"People can ask questions and learn more about the nonprofits," Craiglow said. "There will be computer stations set up where people can donate on site. We’re really thankful to have a partner in UCA."
