The Greenbrier School Board held its monthly meeting on Tuesday.

The meeting began with prayer led by Greenbrier Board of Education Vice President Greg Oaks, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The first order of business was to approve the August minutes as presented. This was followed by administrative reports. There was no construction update and Randy Palculict has submitted the final pay request of $636,979.90 to pay out the contract for Springhill Elementary. The board approved the pay request as presented.

The enrollment update stated there are 287 kindergarten students in the district. Superintendent Scott Spainhour said this is the largest class he has seen in the time he has been with the district. This puts the total number of students in the district at just over 3,500.

Act 1120 Resolution states if any employee receives more than a 5 percent pay increase for whatever reason from the previous year it has to be presented to the board and approved. This resolution was approved as presented.

Dr. Lisa Todd, deputy superintendent, then presented assurances. This is to assure that funds are spent on what the district decrees they will be spent on. Todd said the assurances will be presented to the public at the November board meeting. The assurances were approved as presented.

Spainhour said the district began working on the budget in April, and is officially due Sept. 30, 2016. Pat Tapley presented the budget summary to the board.

The budget will be posted to the district website, www.greenbrierschools.org. The annual budget for the year 2016-17 was approved as presented. The August Expenditures and Revenue were also approved as presented.

The board then retired for personnel discussion.

The board holds monthly meetings the second Tuesday of each month in the Administration Building, 4 School Drive, just north of the Middle School. The next meeting is scheduled for Oct. 11, 2016, at 6pm.
