During surprise alcohol compliance checks at 28 Conway businesses Tuesday, police say 12 failed by serving alcohol to underage consumers.

Servers at Shucked Surf and Turf, El Alcapulco, Los Tres Portrillos, El Parian, Eat My Catfish, Garden Grill Bar, Logan’s, Brick Oven, The Draft, Naru, and Tio’s served the underage patrons after checking their unaltered IDs, police said.

All of the businesses were fined.

A server at Zaza’s failed to ask for ID before serving alcohol to someone under 21, according to a Conway Police Department news release.

The server and the restaurant received a fine.

All the fines were between $200-$500, police said.

The 16 businesses that passed Tuesday’s compliance checks were Bears Den, Cactus Jack, Chilis, Legends, Mike’s Place, Old Chicago, Patron, TC’s Midtown Grill, TGI Friday’s, Sashimi, Cilantros, Fuji, Tazikis, Umami, Buffalo Wild Wings and Playa Azul.

"The Conway Police Department conducts alcohol compliance checks not to get businesses in trouble, the checks are part of an ongoing effort to put an end to the problem of underage alcohol consumption," CPD spokesman LaTresha Woodruff said in the release. "The department also holds training classes with businesses to help combat the problem."
