A 36-year-old University of Central Arkansas student is being held on a $50,000 bond following sexual assault accusations.

Matthew Dendy was arrested last Wednesday and faces one count of second-degree sexual assault, a Class B felony,

Dendy is accused of sexually assaulting a 27-year-old cab driver Sept. 15.

According to an affidavit, the victim picked up a white male in his mid 30s at Alumni Circle on the UCA campus. She said that she then dropped him off at the Germantown Apartments, and once they arrived at the complex, Dendy began harassing the driver, offering to pay her money to perform sexual acts on her.

After refusing multiple times, the victim stated to officers that Dendy then reached over from the passenger seat and grabbed her vagina on the outside of her clothing.

"She then pushed his arm away, told him to get out, and then she sped off," the affidavit stated.

The victim was called in by the Conway Police Department for a photo lineup where she positively identified Dendy as the suspect who assaulted her.

Dendy was issued a no contact order Dec. 15.

He is set to appear in Faulkner County Circuit Court for a plea and arraignment hearing at 9 a.m. Jan. 16.
