The Experimental Aviation Association (EAA) Chapter 1590 of Conway recently hosted a Young Eagles flight rally at Cantrell Field.
Three dozen local youth took to the skies at the Conway event. Since the national program launched in 1992, more than 1.7 million children have flown as part of the rallies.
Free airplane rides were just one aspect of the Conway rally, which was designed to draw young people toward aviation. Additionally, volunteers talked about how planes work, how pilots ensure safety and more.
“We hope to create in these boys and girls an interest in aviation that lasts a lifetime,” event organizer John Ferguson said.
Following the flight, each child aviator received a logbook, making them each an official Young Eagle.
