The Conway City Council will discuss Stone Dam Creek Trail improvements, streetlight communication and restroom facilities at two local parks during its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the District Court Building.

The meeting is open to the public and will not be preceded by a committee meeting.

Grant Administrator Candy Jones said the city would apply for two grants to fund the Stone Dam Creek Trail project.

“This gives the city two chances to receive funding under two different programs that are reviewed by two different committees,” Jones said. “Since our project was construction of a recreational trail, it was eligible under both funding programs.”

The Street and Engineering Department will ask aldermen to approve the purchase of 62 traffic light switches for $29,264.

Director Finley Vinson said more than 60 percent of the city’s street lights are not communicating properly.

“The Street and IT Departments are working diligently to resolve this issue,” he said.

The council will consider a bid of $330,304 from Salter Construction to build restroom facilities at Fifth Avenue and Beaverfork Parks, which was less that the city budgeted for the project.

The 2018 Parks and Recreation budget included $460,000 for construction.

The city received five bids that were opened March 27, and Salter’s was the lowest.
