The Conway Farmers Market will open April 21 at Antioch Baptist Church, 150 Amity Road.

“Currently the market has 30 vendors signed up to sell self-grown or produced products,” Richard Klerk, Faulkner County Extension agent of agriculture/horticulture, said. “The vendors go through a verification process to ensure that what they are selling is only what they are producing.”

The market will be open from 7 a.m. to noon Saturdays in April, May, August and September and on Tuesdays and Saturdays in June and July.

“A kids booth will be open each Saturday for kids to have some activities to do related to agriculture and the farmers market,” Klerk said.

There have been two grower/vendor meetings this spring to register and inform potential vendors of the selling rules at the market, he said.

“Some of the produce vendors will be accepting the Arkansas WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program coupons for payment,”he said. “Each WIC participant who receives a booklet of FMNP coupons will have a total of $20 to spend at the farmers market. Only locally-grown fresh, unprocessed fruits, vegetables and herbs can be purchased with the coupons.”
