Revving Up At Conway Expo Center: Classic car owners & visitors will be revving up May 5, 2018, 10 – 3pm for the indoor Wheels in Motion – Driving Through History Car Show at the Conway Expo Center. The second annual V Dub Showtime & Classy Classics Car Show will combine a VW show with a classic car show with cars & motorcycles from the 1920s to the 1980s. The indoor show at 2505 East Oak Street in Conway Arkansas will benefit the Humane Societies of Pulaski & Faulkner Counties. Doug & Garnet Quimby combine their love of classic cars and animals to put on an enjoyable show for everyone. There will be vendors, food and more. A free first-time home buyer class from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 5 at the Brewer-Hegeman Conference Center on the University of Central Arkansas campus. Planning for your future as a first-time homeowner is the focus of this course. Upon completion, you will be issued an Arkansas Department of Finance Authority certificate that is a prerequisite for assistance toward a down payment or closing costs on a new home. Kid's Fishing Derby: 9-11 a.m. Saturday, May 5; Woolly Hollow State Park in Greenbrier; Calling all kids ages 15 and younger, try your luck in Lake Bennett at our annual fishing derby! A drawing at the end of the derby will be held for some excellent prizes. Trophies will be awarded in three age groups for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners, plus overall biggest and smallest fish. County Road Clean Up/Canvass 3-6 p.m. Sunday, May 6. Volunteers will meet at White City Park to begin their trash pick up of White City and Center Roads located just outside the Mayflower City limits in District 4 of Faulkner County. Light refreshments will be available. The Boss Angels will give those gathered a short send out performance. Rosalynn Wise-McGill, a Mental Health Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurse and Phil Hoard will be on site to assist with volunteer recruitment and to conduct volunteer interviews. AAUW is a national organization that empowers women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research. The Conway Branch, established in the 1920's, is seeking new members to revitalize the organization. This interest meeting is for women with college degrees who have a desire to work to assist women in finding greater opportunities to use their education, as well as promoting and assisting women's college attendance through scholarships. Centerville UMC Singing: Sunday, May 13, at 1:30 p.m., the Faulkner County Singing Club will meet at Centerville United Methodist Church. The Church is some 2 miles east of Woolly Hollow State Park in northern Faulkner County. This community has been host to a singing in early May for over a century. It again invites the public to help carry on a matchless tradition.

61st Annual Arkansas Dairy Foods Contest: Wednesday, May 30; Little Rock; The contest is divided into two categories: Main Dish and Party Ideas. Each county may enter one recipe in each of the two categories. Students enrolled in 4-H aged 9-19 or in the 4th through 12th grades as of Jan. 01,2018, and living in Arkansas may enter. Home-schooled students may also enter. Entries must be approved by the county dairy committee or by the county Extension agent. Each contestant must agree to participate in the state cook-off if his or her recipe is selected for the semifinals. Local entries must be received for selection of state finalists by April 27,2018.
