Animal Care Veterinary Center officials warned Conway residents of a citywide outbreak of Mycoplasma — a highly-contagious upper respiratory infection — among pets on Monday.
“[This is] just an alert to everyone that may have pets dealing with this or others that are traveling, boarding or grooming elsewhere,” officials said in a news release. “It’s highly contagious, no prevention, and should be treated with Doxycycline class drugs.”
There is no available vaccine, according to the release.
“Any of our patients currently receiving treatment need to contact us immediately if they’re not improving or if they relapse or if they want to go ahead and change antibiotics,” officials said.
The center, 1815 Old Morrilton Highway Ste. 105 in Conway, serves Conway and the surrounding areas.
