Five employees at Independent Living Services were recently honored as employees of the year.

Corissa Weaver, Mary Flinoil, Paula McClure, Karen Clegg and Steven Floyd were recognized by ILS, that’s mission is to advocate independence, purpose and dignity for those with disabilities.

“These people were nominated due to their hard work and dedication,” Robert Wright, director of development and supported employment, said.

McClure has worked at ILS for 15 years and notes her most enjoyable parts have been regarding the people she serves.

“My favorite thing about ILS is working with Ronald,” she said. “He is amazing because he has come a long way and has learned how to communicate without being able to speak.”

McClure said she was proud to receive her award because it shows she is doing something worthy and good.

Clegg has been an employee at ILS for a year and a half.

“My favorite think I like about working with ILS is to be able to care for others and taking the time and effort to help consumers regroup their life with compassion and support,” she said. “The effort and support I put forth to care for others has been my passion for [more than] 20 years and I [am] grateful to be able to make a difference in other people[’s] [lives] that’s less fortunate.”

Flinoil, Weaver and Floyd all said they were appreciative toward their supervisor’s for noticing their hard work and dedication and felt appreciated.
