Portions of streets in downtown Conway will be closed for continued work on the Markham Street Corridor improvement project.
“The project when completed will not only allow for improved infrastructure to the Markham Street area, but it will provide infrastructure and streetscape improvements to Chestnut, Oak and Van Ronkle streets as well,” Conway Downtown Partnership officials said.
The portion of Markham Street that lies approximately 80 yards north of the intersection of Van Ronkle and Markham streets will be closed Wednesday. While improvements are being done in that area, access will be from south of the closure with limited access immediately north of it.
Construction in the area that requires partial street closures is expected to be complete by Sept. 14, but CDP said the date could change depending on weather or unforeseen interruptions.
“Thank you for your patience and understanding during these growing pains, but once the project is complete, we will have improved utilities, sidewalks and lighting to these areas,” CDP officials said.
