Two Conway High School students were cited Thursday after reportedly having firearms on school grounds.

An alert was sent out to parents Thursday afternoon informing those in the district of the incident.

Conway Public Schools spokesman Heather Kendrick told the Log Cabin Democrat that the incident did not impose any threats on the school or other students.

"Today, Conway High School leaders received reports that two students were in possession of BB guns at school," the online notice reads. "Administrators and School Resource Officers responded quickly and appropriately. No students were ever in any danger. Safety is our number one priority, and we appreciate our students being aware of their surroundings and vigilant in notifying adults of any potential concerns."

Conway Police Department spokesman LaTresha Woodruff told the Log Cabin the two teens "will be issued a citation for communicating a false alarm."
