A Mayflower man died over the weekend after he was hit by a vehicle on Interstate 40.
Brandon Hatley, 22, of Mayflower was standing outside his vehicle assessing damages from a prior crash on the passenger side of his 2014 Dodge Ram 1500. As he was assessing the damages, the driver of a 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 reportedly struck and killed him, according to an Arkansas State Police report.
Faulkner County Coroner Jessica Thorn pronounced the Mayflower man dead at the scene.
Thorn told the Log Cabin Democrat that Hatley died instantly of blunt force trauma upon impact.
The crash occurred around 2:20 a.m. Saturday along Interstate 40 near the 132 mile marker.
Authorities described weather conditions as "clear" and said roadways were "dry" at the time of the crash.
Hatley's death was the 113th fatality on Arkansas roadways in 2019, according to preliminary data.
