Guy residents are welcomed to take part in the city's 10th annual fishing derby Saturday morning.
The event is scheduled to kick off at 9 a.m. at Guy City Park, located at 30 Pin Oak Lane.
Children ages 3-12 years old will be able to compete in the derby at no cost. The derby continues through 11 a.m. and food will be available once the derby wraps up.
Those interested in participating can still pre-register at city hall Friday. Registration is also available onside at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
Following the derby, hot dogs, chips and drinks will be provided to attendees as judges make their final decisions. Trophies will be handed out at 11:30 a.m.
Organizers encourage local residents to attend the annual event, adding that prizes will also be available during the Guy Fishing Derby.
The family-friendly event also serves as a means to join together and enjoy time outdoors, city officials said.
"It's a great chance for the children of this community to get out and get away from their screens and experience some outdoor activities," officials said. "We enjoy the opportunity to provide a fun, outdoor activity to the children of the community and to make them aware of our city park, which includes this pond for children to fish in year round."
Participants are asked to bring their own poles and bait.
