Two local law enforcement officers were given the opportunity to participate in a specialized firearms training earlier this month.
The four-day training was led by Daniel Shaw of Shaw Strategies at S7 Tactical.
Shaw is a retired US Marine Infantry Unit Leader with multiple combat tours and instructor titles who has developed curricula and set standards for pre-deployment training for those on the Fleet Anti-terrorism Security Teams (FAST) and the Naval Nuclear Security Program.
Conway officer Gordon Ball and Faulkner County Sheriff's Office Cpl. Bryan Adkinson participated in the four-day, specialized course.
The training was held during the first week of May. S7 Tactical helped sponsor the course for local law enforcement.
S7 Tactical sponsored Ball, who is a member of the Conway SWAT team, and Adkinson to attend the training that featured a two-day pistol course as well as a two-day rifle course.
Ball and Adkinson learned a great deal of techniques to help further advance their departments' tactics, the Conway officer said.
"[I] learned valuable techniques and skills that [I have] been able to use in advancing the training of our other SWAT Team members," Ball said.
On behalf of the department, Ball said he was grateful for the opportunity to learn and practice tactics that could help keep Conway safe.
"We wish to thank S7 Tactical and applaud their willingness to ensure that the men and women in law enforcement that serve our communities are well trained," he said.
Conway Police Department spokesman LaTresha Woodruff said the skills thee officers learned are "invaluable."
