Cadron Post Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, honored a Reserve Officers’ Training Corps cadet at the University of Central Arkansas April 25 at the 51st Anniversary Cadet Military Ball in McCastlain Hall at UCA.

The NSDAR National Defense Committee gives the medal to a “graduating ROTC student who has demonstrated academic excellence, dependability, good character, adherence to military disciplines, leadership and a fundamental and patriotic understanding of the importance of Reserve Officers Training Corps.” Cadet Mercedes Bass receives congratulations from Carol Rolf, chapter registrar and state registrar, Arkansas Society Daughters of the American Revolution, upon receiving the gold medal.

Bass, 22-year-old daughter of Erica Bass of Wilmot, graduated May 3 from UCA with a Bachelor of Science degree in health sciences. She plans to pursue a graduate degree in physical therapy and continue her military career in physical therapy.

At UCA, she was a member of Delta Sigma Theta sorority and was the special events coordinator for the Army ROTC program, which included planning the recent military ball.
