I never knew as much about politics as I do today.

As a result, I believe many in our country have lost simple common sense.

Let's start with a favorite voodoo doll of the Left, President Donald Trump. It is painfully clear that no matter what he does, even some excellent actions and results, he attracts not just negativity, but caustic, incessant criticism.

Many times, he deserves it, but do we lose all sense of fair play or civility?

At no time was Trump enforcing a "Muslim ban." It is true that he wanted to ban target countries because they are enemies of our country, like Iran and North Korea, or failed states like Somalia, Syria and Yemen.

Even as many liberals don't want to admit it in their politically-correct world, the fact remains that Muslim radicals are continuing efforts for years, if not centuries, to enslave people and routinely torture, bomb, maim, kill and otherwise terrorize "infidels" by the thousands.

Now it is true that not all Muslims are terrorists, of course, but most all terrorists are Muslim.

ISIS, Al Qaeda, Al-Shabaab, Taliban, Boko Haram and over a dozen other groups still survive and thrive all around the world. The dead bodies pile high, yet the media is anathema to give it much attention and cries of Islamophobia are relentless.

People are scared to say Islam scares them. Woman are treated in the most awful ways. Gays are summarily executed. Radical Muslim men are the benchmarks for toxic masculinity.

Isn't it common sense to have a president of either party protect us from their perversions against humanity we have witnessed for years?

We are now embroiled in a massive illegal immigration problem at our southern border. For decades, Democrats, including Barack Obama, Joe Biden, both Clintons and other top officials are on video with their claims that we must stop illegal immigration. That immigrants must speak English, contribute to our society and assimilate.

Currently, the Federal Government is spending billions of our tax dollars on illegal immigrants while homeless citizens are left wanting, Veterans hurting for health care and the mentally ill are left untreated, not counting our decaying infrastructure.

Doesn't it make common sense to get control of our border?

And so it goes: Nearly half of America is subsidized in some way by government, but they want more. At some point, those who work for income are overwhelmed by those who vote for income.

We spent more than $6 trillion on the "War on Poverty" for 50 years and there is still no change. Failed government programs continue unabated.

Now we have nearly two dozen Democratic Party presidential candidates promoting their ideas to create a better America. I have never seen a time when so many offered so much for so little.

Does any of this make sense?

Regarding the Paris Peace Accords, it required the U.S. to pay billions of dollars over years to possibly reduce the Earth's temperature by 2 degrees C. Yet, the U.S. is making more progress in reducing carbon emissions than all other countries. Does it make sense to force the U.S. to make these payments while other countries like China (by far the worst polluter), India, Russia, Indonesia and others get a free pass?

Common sense expects all major polluters to sign up for cooperative climate change action?

When Trump was elected, those in very high positions in Congress, the DOJ and Intelligence Agencies, thought he colluded with Russia.

After two long years, millions spent on a crack team including 18 top lawyers from key agencies, and the result was a big dud. No evidence of any collusion by Trump, his family or by any American for that matter.

Let me state it this way: Trump did not collude with the Russians, did not commit a crime, but some say he may have committed obstruction into the investigation of a crime that did not happen. So, some think he should be impeached anyway.

Trump was found not guilty of collusion but was not necessarily "not guilty" of obstruction. Yet Robert Mueller noted that the indicted Russians, who did interfere with our elections, are innocent until proven guilty.

To those who hate Trump, they still want revenge by removing a duly-elected president who committed no crime according to the most intense investigation in our country's history.

Where is the common sense?

The real cost to America is a Congress that is uncooperative, manipulative and ineffective with career politicians who become multi-millionaires in office for life and are blinded by partisanship.

It makes no sense.
