Conway police arrested a woman for public intoxication and leaving the scene of an accident Thursday after officers say she wrecked her vehicle at a roundabout at the intersection of Freyaldenhoven Lane, Siebenmorgen Road and Bob Courtway Drive.

Officers responded to the scene around 1:50 p.m. and observed damage to a yellow arrow sign at the roundabout.

A witness told officers a silver car, with a child inside, struck the yellow sign, went through the center of the roundabout and left the scene.

Police located the abandoned vehicle, identified as a 2012 Kia Optima in the accident report, in the 1500 block Trison Lane, located approximately half a mile from the roundabout.

Officers said the vehicle contained a broken Sonic cup, and a liquid substance in the center console that had a strong odor of intoxicants. Police also located a bottle of Rose’s Grenadine, and an open box of Franzia Wine in the trunk.

Police said the driver, identified as a 24-year-old Conway woman, along with the vehicle’s owner, returned to the vehicle approximately an hour later.

Officers said the driver displayed slurred speech and "glassy eyes."

"Due to her previous accident and seeming disregard for herself or the property of others, she was arrested for public intoxication and leaving the scene of an accident," an officer noted in the police report.

Damage to the sign was estimated at $300 in the police report, while damage to the vehicle was estimated at $4,000.
