Sam Long of Conway is in receipt of a postal card from Mrs. Lois Hauton, Formerly Miss Lois Blair of Conway, in which Mrs. Hauton describes a trip to Alaska. The card was mailed in Alaska and she spoke of visiting her sister, Fay, who is attending the University in Los Angeles, Calif., where she will soon receive her master’s degree. Mrs. Hauton finished the Arkansas State Teachers College while living here. Mr. Hauton owns extensive oil interests near Tulsa, Okla.

Mr. and Mrs. John Walter celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Tuesday with a mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church and a reception at their home. Both are natives of Faulkner County. The couple’s 13 children were here for the celebration.

Airman Larry D. Steele, son of Linda R. Moore of Greenbrier, recently completed an Air Force law enforcement specialist course at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.

During the course, students received instruction in general law enforcement duties, tactics, weapons training and apprehension and restraint techniques.

Brad Burk of Conway, a Farm Bureau District One claims adjuster, was named 2002 Arkansas Claims Adjuster of the Year during the 49th annual Farm Bureau Claims Conference recently in hot Springs. The award is given to the claims adjuster who has shown the most improvement, outstanding leadership, professionalism and dedication during the past year.

During the same conference, Eric Godwin of Conway, a Farm Bureau District One claims adjuster, was named 2002 Arkansas Structured Settlement Adjuster of the Year. The award recognizes the settlement of the most claims with structured settlements.
