HOT SPRINGS — Miss University of Central Arkansas Morgan Holt of Conway was named 1st runner-up in the Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant. Miss Heart of the Ozarks Sloane Roberts won the title of Miss Arkansas 2012 Saturday, July 14, at the 75th Anniversary Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant. The pageant took place at Summit Arena in Hot Springs in front of a crowd of more than 2,500 people.
Holt won a $8,000 scholarship sponsored by Charles and Susie Morgan, the Houseworth Overall Evening Gown Excellence Award for $1,000, and also on Thursday, July 12, she was named a Preliminary Award Winner, $800, for Presence and Poise in Evening Gown.
She will be a senior this fall at UCA and is majoring in public relations and a member of the Alpha Sigma Tau sorority. She is the daughter of Terry and Donna Holt of Conway.
Miss Arkansas Sloane Roberts won a $20,000 scholarship provided by Ted and Shannon Boy Skokos and more than $50,000 in awards, wardrobe, transportation, and gifts. The 19-year-old will represent Arkansas at the 2013 Miss America Pageant in Las Vegas, Nev., and will make appearances across the Natural State promoting the Children’s Miracle Network, the Arkansas Children’s Hospital, her personal platform of "Love Always Hopes: Preventing Child Abduction" and speaking in support of the goals of the Miss Arkansas and Miss America system.
Roberts was crowned by the outgoing Miss Arkansas, Kristen Glover, of Stuttgart.
She was also awarded on Wednesday in the Preliminary, $800, for Presence and Poise in Evening Gown and in the Friday Preliminary, $800, for Lifestyle and Fitness in Swimsuit.
More than $88,000 in scholarships were awarded Saturday night to various contestants in decisions made by a panel of five judges.
Roberts is a senior at the University of Arkansas. She is a communications major and a member of Chi Omega fraternity and was Miss Arkansas’ Outstanding Teen 2008. For her talent selection she performed an a capella tap dance.
She is the daughter of John and Michelle Roberts of Rison.
