Word was received here this morning that the Rev. Sam B. Wiggins, pastor of the Conway First Methodist Church, who has been under treatment at a Memphis hospital for several weeks, would arrive home today. Mrs. Wiggins and their daughter, Victoria, who underwent a surgical operation in Memphis recently, will return with the minister.

The Golden Years Club of the First Methodist Church met Thursday to hear Joe C. Shaw, president of the Faulkner County Historical Society, talked on the history of Conway and Faulkner County. Thirty-three persons were present. The next meeting will be Sept. 13. Mrs. Nolan Troxell will talk on her trip to the Holy Land.

Hope Howell, 16, of Vilonia was fourth runner-up in the 1987 Miss Arkansas American Coed Pageant, held July3-5 at the Arlington Hotel in Hot Springs.

Miss Howell also received the Miss Coed Model Award and placed in the top six in the swimwear competition.

She is a daughter of Bobby and Laura Howell.

Former superintendent Bob Clark and his wife, Buneva, greeted friends, family and employees of Conway Human Development Center during his retirement reception on Friday.

Clark resigned as superintendent at the end of June, culminating a 33-year stay at the center, the last 22 as superintendent.
