George G. Shaw Jr. entertained a number of his friends Monday afternoon at his home on Mitchell Street, celebrating his seventh birthday anniversary. Games were played during the hours and ice cream and cake were served. Large colored balloons were given as favors.
The marriage of Miss Virginia Elizabeth Crow, daughter of Mrs. Jewell Crow and the late Giles M. Crow, and Robert Brough Edwards, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles B. Edwards, occurred at the home of the bride here Tuesday night, Aug. 7, with H.F. Sharp, minister of the Northside Church of Christ officiating. After a honeymoon trip to Galveston, San Antonio and El Paso, Texas, Juaurez, Mexico, and Carlsbad, N.M., the couple will be at home in Conway. Mrs. Edwards will re-enter Hendrix College for her sophomore year in September. Mr. Edwards is associated with the Charles B. Edwards Insurance Agency.
Kelly Howard, 8, of Conway won a silver medal with a second-place finish last weekend in her age division at the National Junior Olympics judo competition at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. Howard is coached by her father, David, and is a member of the Maumelle Judo Club. Her sister, Kim, also competed in the national event.
Fred Tate, a shelter Insurance Companies agent in Conway, has been honored among the company’s top agents, based on overall agency operations. Tate received a plaque from the firm’s recent Conference of Champions.
