Milton and Claudia Davis celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Friday, Dec. 27, 2013.
Mr. and Mrs. Davis were married Dec. 27, 1953, in Henderson Methodist Church in Little Rock by the Rev. Herston Holland.
They are the parents of four children, Constance (Greg) Copley of Fort Smith, Ark., Andrea Davis Cole of Missouri, Jean-Anne Davis of Hot Springs, Ark., and Granger (Jan) Davis of Conway, and son-in-law Larry Cole of Memphis, Tenn. They are the grandparents of six grandchildren, and great-grandparents of four great-grandsons.
The couple met at the same church they were married in during a college group class they were both attending.
Milton attended Little Rock Junior College (UALR), and graduated from Arkansas State Teachers College (UCA) in January 1955. Milton is also a veteran of the Korean War.
The couple had their first child in February 1955, and moved to Little Rock where Milton worked for the Colonial Baking Company. In 1956, he was transferred to the Memphis location and they lived there for 23 years, before moving back to Conway in 1979 when he took a position with Edward Jones where he and his son, Granger, worked together.
Mrs. Davis said moving back to Conway was very special to the couple. She said they have made a lot of friends in the community and from the colleges.
Mr. Davis is active in the Faulkner County United Way, a former Faulkner County Senior Activity Center chairman of the board, and a member of the Conway Chamber of Commerce.
They are both active in the community arts and members of First United Methodist Church in Conway.
