New Beginning Church

By Diane Robinson

Pastor Bob preached Sunday morning from several books of the Bible on the "Kinsman." We had no evening service because of the memorial service we had for Sister Elvie Jane Lindsey.

I wanted to dedicate this article to her because she was a member of our church and a sister who loved the Lord so very much. The last few years after the car accident she had lots of problems, one of which she could not walk for a long time. She never gave up on coming to church, which she did in a wheel chair for awhile and then with a walker. She use to sing but for a long time she could not use her voice and then the Lord blessed us and for the last few months of her life she blessed us with her singing. She loved to joke and pick at you some and she did that one time to Pastor Bob. She had made him a birthday cake which looked yummy, but the moment you cut into the cake it popped and covered him in icing. Everyone had a good laugh and so did she. She was a dedicated Christian who preached, taught and sung about the Lord. We will surely miss her but we also know she is well and happy and we will get to see her again one day. Our hearts and prayers go out to her husband brother James Lindsey and their family.  We will keep you in our prayers.

We are also praying for Sister Dorothy Lyon who has just had surgery and a safe and happy vacation for the Martins.

New Beginning Church wants to thank everyone who brought food and to Bro. and Sis. Mize from the United Pentecost Church in Greenbrier helping with the service. Also a special thank you to Marie Barnes, Dorothy Lyon, Dan Smalley, Libby Cole, Debbie Passmore and Sharon and Darrell Watts for helping with the food and the clean-up.

Holland Baptist Church

By Kathy Pearce

The church accepted the resignation of Brother Ron Theis Wednesday night. We pray God’s blessings on him and his family as they take the next step in Christian ministry. We seek God’s guidance as we now search for a pastor.

Bro. Ron preached Sunday the 3rd message in a series concerning Jonah. The first was "Running," next "Repenting," and the third "Returning to God." Nobody is outside of God’s reach. Only God can produce a radical change. Returning to God calls us to work for him. We were encouraged to share God’s blessings with a neighbor.

The church will have a fund raiser booth at the community yard sale Oct. 8 at Holland City Park. One will be able to find numerous items of interest to purchase.

Wednesday night bible study, "Ten Steps to Spiritual Renewal," continues. It begins at 7 p.m. lead by Jim Johnston. Youth and children’s activities, bible study, and worship begins at 6:15 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m.

There will be a youth group/teacher’s meeting at 6 PM tomorrow.

Brother John Evans, Jr. will be preaching for us tomorrow. We invite you to join us for praise and worship if you don’t have a church home.
