Quinn and Cissy Thornton of Conway have announced the engagement of their son Anthony Wade Thornton to Jamie Lynn Garrett of Little Rock.


The prospective groom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Strack of Little Rock and Ms. Martha Thornton and the late Gene Thornton of Plainview. Thornton graduated from Conway High School in 1997, enlisted in the United States Navy in 1999, serving three years on the USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63) homeported in Yokosuka, Japan, then two years on the USS La Salle (AGF-3), onward to Shore Duty at Kings Bay, Georgia where he was the LPO for 3 years before he took orders to Camp Bucca, Iraq for Detainee Operations. He was awarded one Army Commendation Medal, 5 Naval Achievement Medals, 1 Army Achievement Medal, three Good Conduct Medals, and many other service and Unit Citations. He separated in June of 2009 as Machinest Mate First Class.


The bride-elect is the daughter of Lon J. Garrett of Bauxite, and Peggy L. Strange of North Little Rock. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Virginia Young of North Little Rock, the late Gene Spickes of Little Rock, the late Russell M. Garrett and the late Naomi R. Garrett of Bauxite. She graduated from Sylvan Hills High School in 1996, received a bachelor of arts in political science from Ouachita Baptist University in 2000 where she was a member of Chi Delta Women’s Social Club, she earned her Juris Doctorate from University of Tulsa in 2003 where she was Speaker Pro Tempo for SBA and President of Christian Legal Society. She is currently logging observation hours for her mediation certification and is working in marketing at Big Impressions in Little Rock. She actively involved with the Junior League of North Little Rock and is the VP of Communications.


The wedding is set to take place at 5 in the evening on Oct. 16 at the Garrett Family Residence.
