CONWAY — University of Central Arkansas Division of Academic Outreach is now accepting registrations for fall community education classes.

"If you can’t remember the last time you took a class just for fun then now is the time. Community Education is more than reading, writing and arithmetic. It’s a cluster of courses designed to enrich the lives of the residents in Faulkner County," said Dr. Leonard Seawood, dean of Academic Outreach.

Community Education classes cover a wide variety of interests and hobbies that are suitable for people of all ages.

Each spring and fall, the Community Education program staff arranges quality, learning opportunities for the general public to enjoy.

"Our community education classes are a unique blend of subject areas tailored to the needs and desires of our community," said Lawana Hawkins, Community Education coordinator. "We pride ourselves in making these affordable classes available throughout the year so that everyone has an opportunity to learn something new."

Academic Outreach also provides a selection of quality, life-long learning opportunities to the community, including online training and certificate programs, through Gatlin Educational Services and ED2GO.

Community Education courses for this fall include ballroom dancing, gardening, sewing, health and fitness, financial management, 21st century technology, hair and skin care, photography, bridge and sign language. Free courses such as:  hunters’, boaters’ and Alzheimer’s’ education are also available. In addition to the classes offered through Academic Outreach, UCA also offers foreign language and music lessons to students of all ages, through the Community Language School and Community School of Music.
