Nicole Knapp, 29, of Conway, will represent Arkansas in the Mrs. America Pageant in Tuscon, Ariz., Sept. 7-8 at the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort.

Knapp was crowned Mrs. Arkansas America on June 13 at the Hot Springs Convention Center. She has a bachelor’s degree in biology from Arkansas Tech University and a bachelor’s degree in nuclear medicine from Baptist Health. She is married to Jason Knapp, who is the executive chef for Gov. Mike Beebe. The couple has one son, Taylor, 2. Knapp works as a stay-at-home mom.

“One of my main passions is working toward the prevention of drinking and driving,” Knapp said.

Her uncle, 40, and a cousin, 8, were killed in 1996 by a drunk driver, and Knapp has since been working on her platform of preventing drinking and driving. In 2000 or 2001, she said, as Miss Arkansas Tech University, she petitioned the Arkansas Senate to pass the .08 bill, which lowered the legal limit for drinking and driving.

Knapp competed in the Miss Arkansas Pageant in 1999 and 2001 and went eight years without competing before winning the Mrs. Arkansas Pageant in June.

The winner of the Mrs. America Pageant will go on to represent the United States in Mrs. World. Learn more at www.mrsarkansas.org.
